IATB • Pillow 08: Ecru + Red

Inspired by the work of Josef and Anni Albers, Sophie Taeuber-Arp and Luis Barragán. Focusing on the interaction of colour and scale and fusing traditional weaving techniques with modernist design principles, each design is created using a layering of squares to create a visual dialogue between colors.

The textile collection is created in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca in partnership with a multi-generational family weaving cooperative. Each piece is spun, dyed and woven by hand, and take many days to complete.  The weavers specialise in the pedal loom, and the pillows are sewn together using hand-loomed local cotton.
