Charley Harper (1922–2007) was an American modernist illustrator best known for his distinctive, minimalist style of wildlife art. Harper developed a unique visual language he called “minimal realism,” capturing the essence of animals and nature with bold shapes, flat colors, and geometric forms. Rather than focusing on detailed realism, he distilled his subjects down to their most striking features. Harper's playful, thoughtful approach to nature illustration has left a lasting legacy in both the art and design worlds.
